This case chronicled the digital transformation of Hero MotoCorp’s parts warehouse in seeking global growth in the parts business. Led by its CEO, Hero invested heavily in technology and undertook radical changes to 'rewire' the entire enterprise for digital innovation. Key thrusts of its spares warehouse digital transformation strategy involved the revamp of its supply chain organization, change in the mindset of people through building a digital culture, the development and deployment of seamless digitally integrated platform for end-to-end integration including suppliers, internal operations, distribution network and customers. The case explains the prerequisites for, and challenges in automation of warehouse operations. However, questions remain whether Hero has done enough to put digital at the heart of its spares logistics operations – the GPC (Global Parts Centre)? How can Hero MotoCorp systematically assess and manage risks, vulnerabilities and difficulties of end to end digital transformation of warehouse operations?en_US
