Abstract: The article presents two case studies describing natural resource access and utilization by villagers in different regions of West Medinipur in West Bengal in India. One of the studies is on methods used by villagers to reclaim the unrecorded land and achieve distributive justice. The other case study discusses the new strategies carried out by the peasants in order to receive extra legal remuneration for the agricultural lands acquired for industrial setup.
