Abstract: The case presents instances of meetings at work. The conversations in the meetings have been recreated from real life role play performances by several executives, based on a script of a similar scenario. The workplace is a fictionalized company ConElec, a mid-sized consumer electronics company. The workplace has been fictionalised to facilitate classroom discussion and learning. The scenario involves meetings between a newly hired management graduate to lead the marketing function of the company and the deputy national sales manager who has been working with the company for many years. The case briefly explains the context of the organization and key members. It then provides conversations of the meetings. The case discusses issues of perception, empathy, persuasion and communication climate.
