The workplace is a fictionalized place, imagined to facilitate classroom discussion and learning. All episodes and excerpts of conversations are from one workplace. The case discusses issues of gender bias and gender discrimination at work and the role of workplace politics. It also draws attention to how women internalize male and masculine managerial role models. In addition, the case underlines issues that emerge for working women in post-colonial societies, such as India.
