Abstract: | The case starts with its protagonist Mr. Sharat Sharma, Director (Operations), DMRC, grappling with the situation following the abandonment of the project by its private partner (Reliance - CAF), and ends with its protagonist looking for further ways and means to rescue the project. The case provides a brief description of Delhi Metro project executed and operated by DMRC. The case describes the genesis of Airport Express Metro Line along with its unique public-private partnership financing structure. The construction and operations travails of the Airport Express Metro Line are then elaborated upon, further to which the project was abandoned by its private partner. The final part of the case deals with the efforts of public sector organization DMRC to make the service financially viable against many odds under which the project had been taken over after abandonment. |
