Abstract: The rise of digital technologies like social media, mobile, cloud and analytics has changed the way enterprises think of their IT requirements. IT projects in the new digital era are shorter and require quick turn-around on latest technologies. The case documents the transformation of Mastek Limited from a firm specialized in executing complex traditional IT solutions projects to a leader in digital technologies space. To achieve the transformation for addressing their client’s requirements in digital space Mastek changed the way the firm thought about IT projects and solutions development. This included empowering teams to make decisions at their levels, removing traditional appraisal systems, retraining employees in latest technologies to transforming their top leadership and even demerger of products and solutions business to help strengthen the focus of business. The case allows the study of a success story of a large multinational IT solutions firm which undertook a multi-pronged approach to ready themselves for the business of the future.
